For May 2018, Prima Magazine are offering patterns for womens's fitted tops with shaped peplum. The tops fasten with a centre-back zip, and comes in 3 sleeve-lengths cap, three-quarter and long. The pencil skirt comes in juts below the knee or long lengths - both with a centre back split. As usual the Women's patterns come in Sizes 10 - 20 (UK).

PRIMA Magazine - February 2018, A-Line Skirts

There's until the end of tonight to order the February2017 PRIMA Magazine pattern by phone. For more info. please see Prima's own webpage here.

For February 2018, Prima Magazine are offering patterns for Women's A-line skirts in four different views. There is a front frill view in short and knee-length versions, the front-slit version is knee-length with an asymmetric dipped front hemline, and finally an above the knee option with exposed front zip (all other versions fasten at the back with a centred zip). As usual the Women's patterns come in Sizes 10 - 20 (UK).

PRIMA Magazine - April 2017, Skirts in 3-Styles

For April 2017, Prima Magazine are offering patterns for women's A-line skirts in 3-styles: mini, knee-length (with tie-front), and a lined hi-lo style. There are waistbands on the mini and hi-lo views, the tie-front skirt is finished with facings at the waistline. All views have a centre-back zipper.. As usual the Women's patterns come in Sizes 10 - 20 (UK).

PRIMA Magazine - September 2016, Mock-Wrap Skirt

There's until midnight this Friday to order the September 2016 PRIMA Magazine pattern by phone. For more info. please see Prima's own webpage here (it also seems that since their January 2016 issue, Prima have "finally" started to issue details of their patterns online, although not images of the technical drawings).

For September 2016, Prima Magazine are offering a *mock-wrap skirt with centre-back zip, in short, knee or long lengths. And, as usual the Prima pattern comes in Sizes 10 - 20 (UK). (*The "wrap" is fixed in place.)

PRIMA Pattern, August 2015 - Kaftan, Tube-Dress & Skirt... Beach Cover-Ups

There's until the end of this month to order the August 2015 PRIMA Magazine pattern by phone. 

For August 2015, Prima Magazine are offering 3 patterns. The kaftan has a wide-scoop neckline and waist gathers - omit the gathers for a looser fit. The short dress is a simple tube, elasticated at the top and can be worn also as a long skirt. The long dress has an elasticated waist and decorative waist tie.The patterns as usual come in Sizes 10 - 20 (UK).

For March 2015, Prima Magazine are offering classic lined *jacket and figure-skimming tube skirt in medium weight knit fabric. The skirt comes in 2-lengths: a short mini-skirt, or a longer knee-length pencil skirt. The patterns as usual come in Sizes 10 - 20 (UK). (*A very Chanel-esque silhouette in my humble opinion!)

PRIMA Pattern, November 2014 - 2 Skirt Styles

The November 2014 PRIMA Magazine pattern is available to order by phone until the end of this month. 

For November 2014, Prima Magazine are offering 2 styles of quick and easy skirts. A gathered skirt with a wide-yoke for a slim fit at the waist - with side-seam pockets, and can be made as a full-length maxi-skirt, or above the knee. The flared A-Line skirt can be made below the knee or in a midi skater-length.

The patterns as usual both come in Sizes 10 - 20 (UK).

When I looked at the copy of the pattern for the flared *A-Line skirt I thought that it looked much like the patterns you see for 'Circle Skirts'. And having measured it and done a little bit of maths, I've determined that it is indeed a ⅓ Circle-Skirt pattern.

For August 2014, Prima Magazine are offering a sleeveless fitted top and a flattering full skirt.

Both patterns are on the same sheet in Sizes 10 - 20 (UK).

The March 2014 PRIMA Magazine pattern is still currently available to order by phone until the end of today (apologies for the extreme lateness of this blog post - I completely forgot to do it!).

For March 2014, Prima Magazine are offering a collar-less smart jacket and pencil skirt.

A classic couture-style lined jacket and figure-skimming tube skirt. Sizes 10 - 20 (UK).

PRIMA Pattern, October 2013 - Blouse & Pencil Skirt

The October 2013 PRIMA Magazine pattern is still available to order by phone until the end of this month.

  

  

This month is another double-pattern offering.

The patterns for October are an elegant skirt and blouse. The simple-to-make blouse is loose fitting with full-length sleeves and a front keyhole opening, which fastens with a button and loop. The pencil skirt is lined and has a back zip and slit. Sizes 10 - 20 (UK).

BurdaStyle - Special, Plus Magazine Spring/Summer 2013

REVIEW: BurdaStyle - Special, Plus Magazine Spring/Summer 2013
Aside from spotting people I know in print, I also picked up the latest issue of the Plus magazine last week too.

And, what a pleasant surprise it was! Very often comments about Burda's  offering of plus-size patterns in their normal monthly magazine tend to leave people a little cold, and mutterings of shapeless sacks abound. (Their normal magazine shows only a handful of plus sized patterns amoungst the regular sized and kids items.) 

But, as I flicked the pages of my purchase (a biannual publication) I found quite a few things drawing my attention, things I could see myself making.

 

Shirt Dress 421
This is a figure-skimming number with princess-seam shaping on the bodice front and back - with a pencil style skirt.

Blouson Jacket 435
BurdaStyle call this a College Jacket, but to me this is totally reminiscent of a Bomber Jacket I had as a teenager - a total throw-back to Ace McShane in old Doctor Who episodes LOL! This would be pretty good looking with some skinny jeans and heels (or Baseball Boots!).

Jacket 405
Look at the great style lines on this jacket. Burda's is made from Silk - but how great would this look colour blocked - or even a Leather/Ponte Knit combo huh?

Drape Front Dress 405
Again Burda call this a Corsage Dress - but it's more like a softer ruffle / waterfall to my way of thinking. If you didn't like the asymmetric details it could be altered into a pretty good strapless fitted dress methinks - and at least being Plus-Sized drafted already there'd hopefully be less fitting issues than trying to grade-up from  the standard size-ranges.

Drape Skirt 416 A
Then there was this pencil skirt with side-gathers that looked very familiar - and if you ask me aside from the higher waist... it's a pretty close style-match for the Starburst Skirt Pattern #113C from the 05/2012 issue of BurdaStyle Magazine - perhaps this was a popular style for Burda and they decided to try and duplicate it's success in a larger size range?

Sleeveless Jacket / Waistcoat 413 verses Jacket 414
I'm a sucker for admiring that slightly louche music festival style. It's not a style I wear - but I sometimes like an item or too I spot in a fashion magazine. I've always kind of liked those worn-in cotton military/safari style khaki coloured jackets (example) so comfy looking to through on for Spring/Summer. 

Then, I saw the 413 sleeveless jacket pattern, and I liked the covered zip feature (though I'd personally prefer buttons with a covered a concealed button placket), I and I like the collarless finish.. BUT I'd want it to have sleeves (and I didn't fancy drafting any haha!). But a few pages further in I spot 414 - and it look suspiciously familiar to 413. I compared the technical line drawings - and if you ask me they're both based on the same core pattern (yay!).


So, below is my cut 'n' pasted re-hashed version of how I want my jacket to look..... now if only I could find the right fashion fabric ;)...
Long-length sleeves, collar-less neckline, concealed button placket, nice deep gusseted pockets with flap finish, and a drawstring at hem.
